It seems Lacey will do or say anything for personal gain.
Throughout the years Jackie Lacey has quietly perpetrated an easily-documented battle with the truth, earning the career administrator significant and sizable rewards both personal and political.
On top of perjury and union-busting, it has come to this author’s attention that Jackie Lacey, the woefully substance free, establishment candidate for District Attorney, leveraged her administrative and courtroom relationships to avoid paying medical bills and material damages to the victim of a car accident caused by her husband, Mr. David Lacey, in 2007. Shockingly, the car Mr. Lacey crashed was a government-owned vehicle.
Additionally, Jackie Lacey, who was elevated to the DA’s second-in-command spot the same week she launched her campaign for DA, was a passenger in that government-owned vehicle driven by her husband, David. The facts of the case indicate that the Laceys were violating any number of policies and ordinances by driving the car outside of official County business (otherwise insurance would have covered all of the victim’s claims and this would not be a story).
As seems to be the case, David Lacey crashed the government-owned auto he was driving into a car driven by Janet Villasenio on the I-5 southbound by Dodger Stadium. After the crash, the victim reports that Jackie Lacey used her government position to intimidate her. In an apparent effort to avoid insurance claims, Lacey identified herself and her husband as Deputy District Attorneys (a false assertion, in her husband’s case) and claimed fault in the accident, promising the victim would be compensated for material and medical damages.
In the end, after insurance refused to cover Mr and Mrs Lacey’s accident because they were using the government vehicle for personal use illegally, Jackie Lacey reneged on her spoken agreement and flatly refused to pay the damages owed to the victim. The victim, who could not afford to pay her own medical or repair bills, was forced to take the Laceys to court.
In an unusual move, Jackie Lacey appeared representing her husband and proceeded to railroad the victim while heaping syrupy and familiar banter upon the Judge and her co-workers in the courtroom. A fair trial this was not. The judge awarded the victim just $1,100 to cover her medical bills, granting Jackie Lacey’s request to forgive automotive repairs. Most disturbingly, due to her close relationship to the court, Lacey prevailed in keeping the incident off her husband’s record. The victim wasn’t so lucky as the incident still appears and will count against her record. Jackie Lacey’s version of justice was served.
Victim Villasenior’s vehicle has not been repaired since the accident and Miss Lacey has refused to help her fix the car she and her husband damaged.
What we have here is a perfect example of Jackie Lacey’s insider dealing, influence pedaling, and her playing the system for her own benefit. Is this who you want as your next District Attorney?
